Teach-In and VOTE: Unarmed Crisis Response Budget Advocacy

Last year, our Unarmed Crisis Response working group mobilized when the Mayor’s initial budget proposed $0 increases in unarmed crisis response services for the 2023-2024 year. Almost 200 of you sent messages, gave public comment, and activated to ensure that the budget was revised to include $16 million in increases.

Since then, we’ve met with dozens of offices, leaders, and homelessness service providers to get deeper into needs and opportunities for unarmed crisis response. The City of LA itself has released a report laying out a 5-10 year plan to ensure the expansion of services city-wide, and we’ve met with council offices to help them understand what’s in it. Now, we’re approaching the 2024-2025 budget season, and we want to catch YOU up to what we know, and need YOUR help to decide the nature of our advocacy in the upcoming months! Join our Zoom below to learn what we’ve learned, and to begin VOTING for our advocacy demands! (If the link doesn’t work, you can click here.)
